The power of music

*Scroll down for English version

Onako, same od sebe.

English version

Music has always been an inevitable and very important part of my life. I have never played any instrument. Sometimes I attended dance classes, but have never gone professional with them. I have always been sad for not having a better voice, so that I could make other people get all the goosebumps from it.

However, I have always been above the average fan of music. My parents have never had vinyl or cassettes collection, and they used to listen to music on radio, while singing in the background. An I don`t know how, but my sister and I somehow managed to develop a great love and knowledge of music. By ourselves. Honestly, from the heart.

I remember that in the fourth grade of elementary school at merry-go-round I heard the song "I want it all" for the Queen, and I immediately had to have that album. Of course, I didn`t understand English, so it was more like "I wante youuuuuhh" from the people who on the cover of the booklet have their heads joined. Mom and dad somehow found out that it`s Queen, and they bought me the cassette.

Somewhere in my 6th grade very often I was rejecting my friends when that called me outside to play, because soon on MTV my favourite Hit List Uk was about to start, and I had to see and hear fresh hits and who`s where on the list. It was the end of the 80s and the beginning of the 90s, when MTV was an institution.

Then that feeling when you listen to your new favourite song over and over before you go to sleep, and you can`t wait to wake up again, and hear it over again. Then the songs you listen to when you are sad, the ones you are playing when you are happy.

Favourite music genres has been changing while I was growing older, some of them are still following me. With year we learn to understand some music genres which were maybe boring or of shame for us when we were younger. Anyway, music has always been there to spice up my day, to enrich my emotion or my experience.

Somehow I had the problem to understand the people who don`t have any cassette or a cd at home, and who are listening to music on the radio in the background, or not even that. I have a feeling that they`re missing stuff. Because, the power of music transcends all the words and explanations that someone can give you. The video with the baby testify exactly this.

And I believe that with music you can communicate with the baby that grows inside you, with a person who is mentally disabled, or in general in therapy and rehabilitation. A little is sometimes enough to get a lot!
